How long have you been doing what you do, and how did you get to be a presentation specialist?
I founded bespeak in August of 2006, but I’ve been helping people present, teaching public speaking courses, and developing presentations since about 1991. I’ve also been involved in theatre since I could talk. My mother says when I was a toddler, if she opened the refrigerator door, I’d perform for the light.
Who are your clients exactly?
My clients are CEOs and CFOs, presidents and VPs, business owners, authors, doctors, management consultants, engineers, IT folks, global bankers, entrepreneurs.
How are you able to help people in all kinds of industries?
One of my main objectives is helping my client create and deliver a presentation that is audience focused. In order to do this, I have to listen as though I were an audience member and make sure I understand and am positively influenced by what the presenter is saying. Not only do I come to understand my client’s industry, I am able to help him or her talk about it in a way that the audience will completely and easily understand.
How are you different than other public speaking coaches?
First, I have decades of experience working with presenters. I have a unique ability to see their individual presentation strong points and “turn up the volume” on these characteristics. No presenter is like any other, nor should they be; I help my presenters find and broadcast their own authentic self. THAT, I believe, not gestures or intonation, is what makes great presenters.
Second, I am always listening to the content as an audience member. I am a diligent and relentless editor when it comes to ensuring that my clients deliver presentations that are clear, compelling, and change making.
Third, every presenter has a goal. I never take my eye off that goal. For some it is the elimination of fear. For others it is the adoption of an idea or initiative. For (many) others it is to win a client’s business. Whichever goal it is, I make sure it is achieved when my client “takes the stage”.
I am a fearful speaker. What kind of results can I expect?
I have yet to work with a fearful speaker who not only conquered their fear of speaking, but found him or herself actually seeking out opportunities to speak. (And feeling very very proud of finally eliminating this fear and opening up opportunities for themselves.)

Will I recover the investment I make in working with you?
Definitely. If you are a fearful speaker, you know that your fear has kept you from career advancement, job opportunities, winning clients and followers. If your goal in working together is to create one or more sales or persuasive presentations, the resulting presentations will absolutely accomplish those goals. Typically, my clients go on to give the presentations we’ve created and get the sale, convince the board, build a following, acquire new clients, get recommended for other speaking engagements, get the job, etc. (They write or call or text me to let me know. The few who don’t, I track down..)
Who is not right for your coaching or presentation development program?
Those who have a high stakes presentation to create, or are fearful speakers, and are not willing to devote the time (3−5 sessions) are not a good fit. Rome wasn’t built in a day, nor was any truly winning presentation or presenter. I give 150% to every one of my clients, it takes between 6 and 10 hours together to make great good things happen.
